Hi, my name's Gillian and for someone who loves to write, writing a page explaining myself just seems to be increasingly difficult. I think the reason it's so hard to put into words is because I have to ask myself questions like... who am I? What do people really want to know about me? And how can I make my life sound as interesting as I think it is?

So here it is: the answer to all those troublesome questions.

 1. My Name is Gillian Aftanas

2. I am 17 years old

3. I was born and raised in Manhattan, New York with my younger sister by my Canadian parents. 

4.  Travel has consistently been a part of my life since I was young and I have always found within myself, along with a deep curiosity for new and improbable things, a innate passion to explore, whether it be the vibrant neighborhoods of New York, the island spotted lakes of The Northwest Territories or the grand rainforests of Tahiti.  As of right now travel is probably the most important thing in my life behind my family.

4. The fall of 2013 I packed my bags and flew to Hyderabad, India where I joined my new school, THINK Global School, an international traveling boarding school and the first of it's kind.

5. Since then I have been traveling the world with my classmates trying to learn, do and create as much as I can.

6. In the past 3 years I have lived in India, Japan, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Greece, Sweden, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Italy. In the coming year while partaking in my senior year of high school I will be living in Peru, Morocco and Canada . 

5. I am a huge lover of photography, writing, history, traveling, hiking, kayaking and exploring. Mainly I just love to see and create beautiful things.

6. I like to consider myself an amateur in most things because I believe in constant improvement and that no one can ever truly be great at something unless they give themselves enough room to grow.

7. My goal is to make people happy and to show them just how amazing and beautiful the world is, whether through writing or pictures. I hope that through storytelling I can make a positive impact on the world.

8. I am an extremely lucky person just trying to do the best I can to help others.

9. Also I might have a thing for lists.
